Oxfordshire TVRCC Track Day
at Kemble Airfield Thursday 26th April 2001

Rules of the encounter

Locaton: A429 twixt Cirencester & Malmesbury, 18 miles north of M4 J 17
Date: Thursday 26 April 2001 Cost : £45.00 per car or additional driver.

Format: A 2.5 mile circuit including long straight on main runway, sweep on 2nd runway, hairpin onto perimeter road then fast sweeping bends back to start. Lots of runoff and no armco when you get it wrong.

This is intended as "fun" day, not a full on track day, to give us all chance to open up our cars in safety without feeling that we have to go flat out to match more experienced track day enthusiasts.

Regs: Not many

  • Give way to aircraft (yes, really)
  • Helmets to be worn
  • No timekeeping, racing, pacemaking or speed competitions (for insurance purposes)
  • Overtake on left only, on straights. No overtaking in braking areas or on bends. If being overtaken, back off to let faster car through
  • We do our own marshalling, taking turns. Probably 20 minute spells with 10 cars max on track to reduce congestion so no coming togethers
  • NO NOISE REGS - specially for Jason
  • If aircraft wants to land when you are on the runway - must not race it. We are faster than them and prevents them landing (light aircraft see, land at 90mphish)
  • If RAF jet wants to land, duck
  • TVRCC members must produce their membership cards on the day to validate the Club Liability insurance - excludes any liability arising out of driving or passengering in a car
  • Non members must pay a fee of £5 on the day to obtain temporary TVRCC membership. You are strongly advised to ensure that your motor insurance covers you for this day

Julian & Graham - Police Class 1 drivers from Ride Drive Ltd in attendance. Will provide free tuition in return for a drive of your vehicle (with you clinging on in the passenger seat) Drivers will be sorted at their own discretion into novice, intermediate and expert
